What We Do and How We Help
Case Management
Our team supports the whole family, from the first day they connect, to identify goals, opportunities, and challenges. COMSA’s case management model of support ensures all individuals continue to make progress toward their goals of self-sufficiency in their new community. We collaborate with our partners to provide culturally responsive services to individuals and cultural training to partner staff in the areas of employment, housing, education, and more.
(Note: While we do not have a resettlement program, we will work with immigrants and refugees during the 90 days to find some accommodation through referrals or support to the best of our abilities.)
Health care access, support, and education
Whether it’s physical or mental health needs, COMSA has been supportive of those in need. Starting a new life in a new country can be incredibly stressful, and many refugees and immigrants carry the weight of past trauma. COMSA's Mental Health & Wellness Program provides a safe and supportive space to heal and build resilience. We connect individuals and families with culturally-competent mental health resources, offering a compassionate hand to help them navigate stress, anxiety, and trauma. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has the support they need to not only survive, but truly thrive in their new home.
COMSA is also a proud partner with the many health care providers within the Green Bay and surrounding area. Including but not limited to Bellin’s Health, we connect with those in need and help them get started through the process of getting the care they need.
Along with providing support for health care access, to better help our community members feel confident and informed, COMSA partners with Streu's Pharmacy to host regular Health & Pharmacy Education sessions. These friendly and informal sessions offer a trusted space to ask questions about medications, learn about common health issues, and get practical tips on staying healthy. It's a great opportunity to get reliable information directly from a local health expert and take control of your well-being.
Employment and Job Training Assistance
COMSA provides important support for employment and job training, especially for immigrants and refugees. In collaboration with the Bay Area Workforce Development Board, the Job Center, and several local employers, our team provides support in matching an individual’s employment goals with job opportunities, completing applications, and preparing for interviews. This comprehensive assistance helps individuals navigate the U.S. workforce system, which can be particularly challenging for those with limited English language skills or unfamiliarity with local customs and procedures.
Women empowerment
COMSA provides holistic support to refugee and immigrant women. This program is essential because these women often face compounded challenges, such as culture shock, language barriers, social isolation, and workplace discrimination. The initiative focuses on building skills and fostering community connections to help them overcome these obstacles.
The program works to improve the health and well-being of women and girls through various activities, including skills development and educational sessions on topics like financial literacy and women's health. By providing these vital resources and a supportive environment, COMSA helps women build confidence and thrive in their new environment
Senior program
For senior immigrants and refugees, social isolation can be a major challenge. COMSAUSA's Senior Program is designed to create a vibrant and supportive community where older adults can connect and thrive. This program helps seniors overcome language barriers and cultural differences to build new friendships and remain active.
Through the Senior Program, COMSAUSA facilitates a range of activities and provides valuable support. It's a place where elders can connect with their peers, share their experiences, and feel a sense of belonging. The program provides a vital link to the broader community, helping seniors navigate services, access resources, and feel a sense of purpose and joy in their new home.
(Note: We are currently in the process of acquiring more funding to continue this program. Your generosity and donations are greatly appreciated.)
Community Outreach & Education
COMSA is committed to educating area communities about immigrant cultures and the positive aspects of accepting them as fellow community members. They are our neighbors, co-workers, classmates, and friends. They are survivors. Strong, capable people who have persevered. Education and training develop a culturally responsive community that breaks down barriers, improves access to services, and builds a new community by helping individuals be understood and accepted by their neighbors.
